Douglas C‑53D Skytrooper 42‑68810, now flying in France as F‑HVED, is one of the most historically significant surviving Skytroopers. Built in June 1943 at Santa Monica, it served as a dedicated troop‑carrier variant of the C‑47, lacking the cargo door and reinforced floor of its more famous sibling. Restored by the Musée Aéronautique de Bretagne, it returned to the air in 2024 wearing its original wartime markings: T3‑003 “Gruesome”
